SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT

 St. Ignatius College Luqa Primary takes its learners from the kindergarten stage (3-4 years old) right up to the 11+ national benchmark exam. The school’s mission is to provide its learners with a holistic type of education to help all learners maximize their skills, abilities, and talents. Essentially, the school strives:

·     To aid all learners develop to their fullest potential in a safe, challenging, and happy learning environment.

·     To create a stimulating school ethos, which supports the expectations and aspirations of all learners, parents, and educators.

·     To bestow a caring education founded on deep rooted Christian values.

·     To provide learners with the necessary security to enable their full intellectual, emotional, physical, and spiritual development.

·     To ensure that all learners are valued as individuals and that their contributions to the life of the school are recognised and appreciated.

BRIEF HISTORY AND DISCRIPTION OF THE SCHOOL

 The building of Luqa Primary School was completed in 1930 and on the 15th of September of the same year it proudly welcomed its first cohort of learners. In 2001, the school underwent a major refurbishment programme. Except for the façade, the 75-year-old school was practically re-built from scratch. Following the latter renovation programme, the school has a total cohort of 24 classrooms, a Kindergarten section, administration offices, a public library, a clinic, a resource room, a gym, well-equipped rooms for science, literacy, music and art, and a multi-functional hall, which homes 250 persons. There is also a 5-a-side football pitch with artificial turf. The current school population is of approximately 350 students, of whom 130 attend Kindergarten.
